Our Firm
Knowing the Spanish-speaking community of New Jersey needed Spanish-speaking advocates, Luis R. Sanchez took the advice of his father and his uncle, both former attorneys in Cuba, and attended Seton Hall University Law School upon his college graduation.
Through law school he clerked for a law firm specializing in personal injury, but he wanted to devote his time and energy to the representation of the Spanish-speaking community. With his fluency in Spanish, he felt that he would best be able to deliver quality legal represention to the community by establishing a law practice in the middle of a heavily Spanish-speaking city. As a result, about two years after graduation, he ventured out on his own and established his practice at 627 Elizabeth Avenue, Elizabeth, New Jersey, dedicated to the general practice of law and the representation of Spanish-speaking clients.
On June 1, 1979 he relocated to the firm’s present location at 902 Second Avenue at the corner of Elizabeth Avenue, Elizabeth, New Jersey. In 1978, his brother, Manuel P. Sanchez, a manager at Bloomingdale’s, Short Hills, New Jersey with a MBA, decided to leave Bloomingdale’s. He became the firm’s office manager while he decided what direction his career was to take. He found the practice of law very attractive and he decided to become an attorney. He received his law degree from Seton Hall Law School in 1984.
Joseph C. Santoliquido attended Seton Hall Preparatory School with Luis R. Sanchez, and their friendship continued through the years. Joseph Santoliquido is married to Maria Sanchez, a sister of Luis and Manuel Sanchez. After working as an independent claims investigator, and as an adjuster for Motor Club of America Insurance Company, he also decided to attend Seton Hall Law School, and received his law degree in 1981. In 1985, upon the graduation of Manuel P. Sanchez from law school, the firm became known as Sanchez, Sanchez & Santoliquido.
In 1998, Manuel Sanchez opened the firm's satellite office in his hometown of South Plainfield, at 142 Oak Tree Avenue, as part of his commitment to meet the needs of the firm's clients who live in the surrounding areas.
Associate Carolyn Gilinsky joined Sanchez, Sanchez & Santoliquido in 1985.
